El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant

After living in San Diego for the better part of 6 years, I've learn to love Mexican food.  growing up in Hawai'i, the Mexican food I knew was Taco Bell.  yes, that's sad.

but now I know a lot more about Mexican food and since I've moved back to Hawai'i, I CRAVE it... badly.  we looked up Mexican places and saw Serg's (Waimanalo/Manoa) and Mexico (Kalihi), but we never made it to either.  El Mariachi in Kaneohe was highly recommended on Yelp!, so we decided to give it a shot and went there for lunch today.

after being seated you get to munch on some warm tortilla chips and salsa.  their salsa was really tasty (but a little watery for me), but I had a feeling the food was gonna be bomb-diggity.

we went with the Carnitas Ensalada and Carne Asada soft tacos, beans and rice.  my wife also had the Horchata.  hooooooo buddy, was definitely broke da mout' action, but I gotta go back again to make sure :)  hahaha!

overall, it was really good: huge portions, ~$10-$15 per plate, and super ono food.  I know Mexican food is usually cheap (think street tacos, taco carts/stands, etc.), but I think this place is worth the extra bucks.  I felt like I had to roll out of the place back to my car.  if you're in Kaneohe, stop by!
