Today was the maiden voyage for the WAVESTORM.

I went down for the usual dawn patrol surf, with 1-2' waves and some light trades. First off, there's 2 things you need to know about the Wavestorm:
- Wax it!!! Da buggah is slippery without it.
- Don't trust the leash mount. It's just a piece of fabric linked between the 2 fin plugs. Be able to swim/tread water should your leash ever break (apply to all ocean activities, but more so with the junk Wavestorm leash mount)
Ok, so let me sum up my 1st session in these 3 words:
SO MUCH FUN
Seriously, I haven't had this much fun on a board since I started stand up surfing! The board paddles like a champ (since it's so thick - TWSS) and it surfs surprisingly well. I thought it was going to be like a boogie board, all flexy and stuff, but no, this board is fairly stiff due to the triple stringer and foam construction. I'm not saying that you're going to be pulling off any Andy Irons hacks, but you'll be able to buss off a little cutback or two. I tried a little floater and you can feel the board flex under your feet as you come down in the whitewater.
The one downside to this board is that it's difficult to punch through whitewater. Turtle it, go over it, bail it (don't do this around anyone!), it doesn't matter, you always seemed to get dragged. I'm guessing it's because it's so buoyant. Oh well, at least it paddles good so you can haul ass once you're done getting beat! Hahaha!
Mahaloz again to
Dean at CDP for the awesome pictures of the maiden voyage!
